Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has pulled out of talks with Jem Karacan, after he failed to agree to terms on a contract.

Karacan, available as a free agent after leaving Bolton at the end of last season, had looked set to join The U's after it emerged an offer had been tabled in July.

After that initial offer was rejected by the player, Oxford returned with an improved deal last week but Robinson has admitted defeat in his attempts to sign the 29-year-old, instead shifting focus to other targets.

"We move on," Robinson told the Oxford Mail.

"But I've got one or two players who I didn't think we could get, that might be available now.

"I could have pushed, but no."
