Reports on Tuesday suggest Bolton have stepped up their interest in Ipswich Town forward Joe Garner, having seemingly missed out on a deal for Charlie Wyke.

Garner, a product of the Blackburn Rovers academy, joined Town in a reported £1million transfer from Rangers in June 2017 and scored 10 goals last season as they secured a 12th-placed finish in the Championship.

The 30-year-old has been a long-term target for Trotters boss Phil Parkinson, who hopes to reach an agreement after Wyke moved closer to a switch to Sunderland.

The Black Cats are understood to have agreed an initial £500,000 fee for the Bradford City forward, which could rise to more than £1million with bonuses.
