Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has revealed both Bolton and Blackburn Rovers have had offers for defender Patrick Bauer turned down.

The Addicks, who look set to lose forward Josh Magennis to Wanderers this week, have fended off interest for Bauer and are likely to tie him to a new contract, after he recently entered the final 12 months of his existing deal.

The 25-year-old has been outstanding for the League One side since arriving from Maritimo in June 2015, and Bowyer is hopeful talk of a transfer will soon begin to quell.

"Pat is not going," Bowyer told South London Press. "The owner told Blackburn and Bolton what he wants for Pat and they are not going to pay what we are asking.

"Pat knows that. Pat has been offered a new deal and he is thinking about that at the moment.

"Bolton tried to take him as well after Josh. They made a deal with Josh and tried to do it with Pat as well.

"But on Saturday I had an email from the owner saying that Pat is staying. He said that Pat is a massive part of our defence and we need to keep him because he improves our chances of promotion.

"I'm over the moon about it. By keeping Pat he is showing what he wants from us this season."
