Bolton have completed the signing of Jack Hobbs, who had been available as a free agent following his release by Nottingham Forest.

Hobbs has signed a 12-month contract with Wanderers and becomes their sixth major signing of the summer - following Jason Lowe, Erhun Oztumer, Clayton Donaldson, Pawel Olkowski and Marc Wilson.

A graduate of Lincoln City's academy, where, at the age of 16 years and 149 days, he became the youngest debutant in their history in 2005, the now 29-year-old has also represented the likes of Liverpool, Scunthorpe United, Leicester City and Hull City during a career which has seen him take in more than 250 league appearances across all four divisions.

Hobbs, whose last game for Forest was in their defeat to Bolton on the final day of last season, had been on trial for a number of weeks and says he is 'delighted' to have concluded a deal just five days before the start of the new Championship campaign.

"I'm delighted to get the deal over the line," Hobbs told

"Obviously I've been up here with the team training for a few weeks now and to have agreed a year-long contract is fantastic. I just can't wait to get started now."

In addition, manager Phil Parkinson said: "I'm really pleased that we have signed Jack.

"He's been with us through pre-season and has not only shown what a good player he is, but also what a good character he has."
