Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has confirmed Josh Magennis has travelled to Bolton ahead of a proposed transfer.
Reports on Friday suggested Wanderers had agreed a fee of £350,000 for the forward, although it has since emerged the figure could well be lower than originally anticipated - understood to be in the region of £200,000.
The 27-year-old, who is a full Northern Ireland international, has undergone a medical with the Trotters and Bowyer expects the move to be concluded.
"I don't know if it's all gone through yet, you probably know more than me," Bowyer told South London Press.
"I know there has been an agreement, he went there yesterday for what looks like a medical and to agree terms.
"Josh was good for me and a great professional around the place - he was a leader and a big personality.
"He will be missed, but that's football. I wish him all the best and hopefully he'll be able to have a good season and career for Bolton.
"I can't see him not signing for them and coming back, but I hope he says goodbye first."
