Bolton have completed the signing of Marc Wilson, who had been available as a free agent following his release by Sunderland.
Wilson, who has signed a 12-month contract, becomes Wanderers' sixth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Jason Lowe, Erhun Oztumer, Clayton Donaldson, Pawel Olkowski and Yanic Wildschut.
Capped 25 times by the Republic of Ireland, the 30-year-old is capable of playing in defence or holding midfield and he believes the move to Macron Stadium will allow him to get his career back on track following last season's disappointment of relegation into League One.
"It's good to be here," Wilson told bwfc.co.uk. "I spoke to the manager a while back and he was really positive about it.
"I think for me personally it is a good chance to get playing football again and hopefully help the club to do well."
In addition, manager Phil Parkinson said: "We're pleased with the signing of Marc. He's a player who's played at the top level in English football and also on the international stage.
"He can play across the back four as well as holding midfield and is a great addition to our squad."
