Bolton Look at Jack Hobbs in Friendly Win

Former Nottingham Forest defender Jack Hobbs could be on the verge of joining Bolton, after he stepped out in their pre-season friendly victory at FC Halifax Town.

Hobbs, whose four-year stay at the City Ground came to an end when his contract expired in June, is looking to get his career back on track after injury restricted him to just 15 appearances in his final two years at the club.

The 29-year-old came through the youth system at Lincoln City, where, in 2005, he became their youngest ever player by coming on as a substitute at the age of just 16 years and 149 days.

Wanderers were said to be chasing a deal at the time, but Hobbs would join Liverpool on his 17th birthday.

He failed to progress into the first-team at Anfield, however, and completed a free transfer to Leicester City in the summer of 2009 after a successful season on loan with the Foxes.

Hobbs would later go on to join Hull City before moving to Forest in 2013, where a loan move was made permanent the following January.

He made a total of 86 appearances for the two-time European Cup winners but is currently available as a free agent, with Bolton boss Phil Parkinson said to be closing on a deal.
