Bolton have completed the signing of Pawel Olkowski, who had been a free agent following his release by FC Koln.

Olkowski, who has 11 caps for the Polish national side, has signed a two-year contract with Wanderers and will provide added competition for both Mark Little and Stephen Darby at right-back.

The 28-year-old came through the youth system at Gwarek Zabrze in his native country but made his name with Gomik Zabrze, prior to making a switch to the top level of German football in 2014.

Olkowski departed FC Koln last month and after finalising a deal for the player, Trotters boss Phil Parkinson said: "I am delighted to welcome Pawel to the club.

"He attracted strong interest from a German and Italian club and we have worked really hard to get the deal done.

"He's played at the top level in Germany and for his country, and has shown a real desire to come to England and play for Bolton Wanderers Football Club."
