Bolton have confirmed seven first-team players will be free to find new clubs when their contracts come to an end on June 30.

After retaining their Championship status on the final day of the campaign with a dramatic victory over Nottingham Forest, Wanderers must prepare for next season knowing they have an astonishing 22 players set to fall out-of-contract - with a further six having already returned to their parent clubs following the expiry of loan deals.

Jem Karacan was the first to announce his impending departure, doing so on Twitter on Wednesday evening, while the club have now revealed he will be followed out of the Macron Stadium exit door by Derik Osede, Dorian Dervite, Chris Taylor, Mark Howard, Jan Kirchhoff and Chinedu Obasi.

Karacan, who linked up with Wanderers in March 2017 following his release by Galatasaray, leaves having made 23 appearances for Wanderers, scoring twice - including one against Peterborough United on the final day of the 2016/17 promotion-winning season.

Osede, who has spent three years with the Trotters since his arrival from Real Madrid, netted his first two goals for the club this season, with his 20 appearances taking his final tally up to 71 for the club.

Four years since signing on a free transfer from Charlton Athletic, Dervite, who has been in and out of the team in two seasons under Phil Parkinson, played 99 times for Bolton and is expected to attract interest from clubs in both the Championship and League One.

Taylor's career has been on hold for the past 12 months having been frozen out of Parkinson's plans after a proposed move to Oldham Athletic collapsed last summer. In total, Taylor made 23 appearances - the last of which came in an FA Cup third-round tie with Crystal Palace in January 2017.

Howard's final appearance was as a substitute for the injured Ben Alnwick on the final day of the season, meaning he finishes his time at the club having played 39 times since joining on a free transfer from Sheffield United two seasons ago.

Kirchhoff will leave Wanderers following an injury-hit spell which produced just four outings, while Obasi failed to even feature amongst the substitutes after signing a pay-as-you-play deal in March.

With the majority of the first-team squad away on holiday, Bolton boss Parkinson will hold further dialogue with out-of-contract players over the coming weeks as he prepares to shape his squad ahead of another assault on next season's Championship.
