Bolton Wanderers midfielder Jem Karacan has confirmed he will leave the club when his contract comes to an end on June 30.

Karacan joined Wanderers on a free transfer from Galatasaray in March 2017 and was a decisive figure in their promotion to the Championship, netting on the final day of the campaign as they secured the runners-up position in League One with a 3-0 victory over Peterborough United at Macron Stadium.

After featuring in 10 of the Trotters' first 11 league games on their return to the second tier, the 29-year-old soon fell out-of-favour under the management of Phil Parkinson and made just six further appearances - the last of which came in a 3-0 defeat at Derby County on April 7.

Confirming his impending departure on Twitter, Karacan said: "Proud to have been a part of Bolton Wanderers over the last 15 months.

"It was great to have been involved in the club returning to the Championship and then staying in the division.

"Will miss being amongst such a great set of lads.

"Thanks to the fans & good luck for next season."

In total, Karacan played 23 times for Bolton, scoring twice.
