Former Bolton captain Jay Spearing is already preparing for life beyond his playing days, having started studying for a UEFA B coaching licence.

Spearing, who spent five years with Wanderers between 2012 and 2017, scoring 10 goals in 173 appearances, departed Macron Stadium at the end of last season before linking up with Blackpool on a one-year deal.

The 29-year-old featured heavily as the Seasiders finished 12th in League One but, with his future uncertain, he has taken the decision to take his first steps into coaching in anticipation for any opportunities that may arise in the future.
