Aaron Wilbraham admits the negativity surrounding his time at Bolton has never once affected his game.

Wilbraham, who has been criticised, ridiculed and sometimes booed by his own supporters, scored the winning goal on Sunday as Wanderers retained their Championship status with a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at Macron Stadium.

Speaking after the game, the 38-year-old said he used his experience to blank out the opinion of those who questioned his selection, whilst also taking on some advice from assistant manager Steve Parkin.

"When I first came to the club, I wasn't in the best condition," Wilbraham told OfficialBWFC on YouTube.

"I'd had a knee injury in the summer, missed pre-season and then I had to get fit in front of the fans.

"They were probably thinking I was a bit older so you're going to get a bit of cynicism, but as well as the moans and groans there has been a lot of positivity and a lot of people outside the ground wishing me well.

"I don't read social media. I listen to the positivity and blank the rest out.

"Steve Parkin told me in the week that fans at Sheffield Wednesday weren't signing my name at the start but they were by the end, so make sure you have that focus and that's what I kept in my mind."
