Bolton chairman Ken Anderson has revealed talks are underway with a number of players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season.

No fewer than 22 first-team players are due to become free agents on July 1, while names such as Antonee Robinson, Harry Charsley, Jon Flanagan, Reece Burke, Tyler Walker and Zach Clough will return to their parent clubs at the end of their respective loan deals.

Anderson has admitted discussions are ongoing with agents over the future of several players, although negotiations are unlikely to pick up pace until Wanderers discover which division they will be playing their football in next season.

"There has been some speculation in the press and on social media about players' contracts," Anderson told

"What I can tell you is that we are already talking to the agents of some of the current squad about extending their deals.

"Once our destiny is known for certain, we'll be in a stronger position to speak with the other players and their representatives.

"I think it is pretty evident that the higher up the football pyramid one goes, the fruits of one's labours are commensurately rewarded."
