Aaron Wilbraham: 'I Know I Can Score Goals'

Aaron Wilbraham never doubted his ability to score goals at Bolton, after netting his first for the club in Saturday's draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

Wilbraham, a free signing from Bristol City last August, has struggled to win over his critics at Wanderers and was booed by a section of the travelling support when he was introduced as an 84th-minute substitute at Hillsborough.

The 38-year-old put that to the back of his mind, however, expressing his delight at heading home such an important goal - one which made him the second-oldest scorer in the club's history.

"It's great to get on the scoresheet," Wilbraham told BWFC's official YouTube channel. "I've waited a long time.

"I've not had many chances when I have been on the pitch as I've not been getting on for very long, but it was a great feeling to see the ball hit the back of the net.

"You don't want to score if you're 4-0 down - that doesn't mean anything. They say all strikers are happy scoring goals but, for me, only if the team is getting a result. It was an important goal and I was glad to get it.

"I've only started one league game - against Sunderland. Apart from that I've been coming off the bench.

"I know I can score goals, I always have done, and it's just good to get one for Bolton."
