Bolton have completed the signing of Chinedu Obasi on a short-term deal, following a successful trial at the club.

Obasi, who has been available as a free agent since leaving AIK at the end of the Swedish season last November, has signed a short-term deal with Wanderers that will run through until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old, who hails from the same hometown as one Jay-Jay Okocha, has represented Nigeria at the FIFA World Cup, Africa Cup of Nations and the Olympic Games, but last featured for the Super Eagles in 2011.

A forward who made his name at Norwegian side Lyn Oslo, Obasi has since gone on to feature for the likes of Hoffenheim and Schalke in Germany and Chinese outfit Shenzhen FC, in addition to two spells at the aforementioned AIK.

Obasi was the goalscorer as David Lee's under-23 side were 1-0 winners over Burnley last month and Wanderers are understood to have seen off competition from the continent to land his signature.
