Newcastle United forward Adam Armstrong has joined League One side Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the season.
Armstrong, who spent the first half of the campaign at Bolton, for whom he scored three goals in 23 appearances, has struggled to adapt to life at Championship level over the last 18 months and his move to Ewood Park will provide him with the opportunity to rediscover the form that saw him named in the 2015/16 League One Team of the Year.
Wanderers had been keen to retain the services of the 20-year-old, but Magpies chiefs were keen to see how he performed in his preferred central attacking role - having been utilised on the left-hand side of midfield during his stay at Macron Stadium.
Armstrong, who was part of the England under-20 World Cup winning squad last year, will wear the number 18 shirt during his time with Rovers and could make his debut when they play host to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
