2017 has been a year of change at Bolton Wanderers and for those who have joined us along the way, we thank you and offer our best wishes on Christmas Day.

This year, which just so happened to be our 10th anniversary year, we have been witness to highs such as the club winning promotion as League One runners-up, to lows such as the long-running boardroom saga between Ken Anderson and now-former co-owner Dean Holdsworth - which resulted in the former taking a majority stake in the Trotters.

As posted in this column exactly 12 months ago, 2017 was due to be a year where Burnden Aces made a successful relaunch, with a fresh-new look taking the website into the modern day. Although we failed to turn those hopes into reality, the finishing touches are being put into action and our new-and-improved offering will be with you in 2018.

Having made the difficult decision to rid ourselves of our once thriving message board facility earlier in the year, it came as no surprise to see page views across the website drop by almost 40% this calendar year. This is something we anticipated, however, and having only suffered a 9% reduction in visitors over the same period, hopes are high that our delayed relaunch, along with a host of new features and incentives, will see Burnden Aces eclipse all previous records next year.

Following the closure of the message board and increased focus on social media channels, our decision was justified with a 14% increase in Twitter followers and a 12% rise in subscribers on Facebook.

Staying with social media, the pilot launch of @BWFCStats has generated more than 1,000 followers in its opening year, with feedback from supporters and media personnel leaving us in no doubt that there is a future for a website previously run by Nigel Sheppard.

We close by thanking you, the Bolton Wanderers supporters, for your continued support. Without you, the hours and sacrifice required to provide this free service, without any personal reward, really wouldn't be worth it.

Merry Christmas to the best fans in the world. We Are Bolton - The One and Only!
