Phil Parkinson and Sammy Ameobi have been nominated for October's Championship Manager and Player of the Month awards, respectively.

Entering the month at the bottom of the division and without a goal in eight games across all competitions, Wanderers got themselves out of that rut with a run of four games unbeaten - picking up six points in the process - and a return of seven goals.

Although Parkinson's side failed to lift themselves from the foot of the table by month's end, they moved back to within touching distance of their relegation rivals and subsequently moved up a position with victory over Norwich City in their opening game of November.

Having returned from injury at the end of September, the Trotters were boosted by the continuous improvement of Ameobi - who netted an impressive three times in four outings during the month of October.

Ameobi will come up against Sunderland's Lewis Grabban for the award, with both Leo Bonatini (Wolverhampton Wanderers) and Richard Keogh (Derby County) also in contention.

Parkinson, meanwhile, faces competition from Brentford boss Dean Smith, Queens Park Rangers' Ian Holloway, as well as Derby counterpart Gary Rowett.
