Jeremy Simpson will referee Saturday's Sky Bet Championship fixture between Aston Villa and Bolton at Villa Park.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Bristol City on Tuesday, while Villa were 4-0 winners at Burton Albion on the same evening.

Simpson, who will take charge of the game, has officiated 10 matches so far this season - issuing 39 yellow cards and one red.

His most recent outing was on September 26, when he was the man in the middle for Norwich City's 1-0 victory at Middlesbrough in the Championship. The Lancashire official produced five yellow cards in that game, four of which went to the visiting side.

Simpson's last match in charge of Bolton was on February 28, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bristol Rovers in a League One clash at Macron Stadium. Four cautions were issued that night, three of which went to the hosts, while Wanderers loanee Chris Long was sent off for a second bookable offence.

The last time he refereed an Aston Villa fixture was on August 19, as they ran out 4-2 winners over Norwich City in a Championship meeting at Villa Park. Four players entered the book that day, including Villa defender Alan Hutton.
