Bolton look set to add to their midfield ranks with the addition of Karl Henry, who is available as a free agent following his release at Queens Park Rangers.

Henry, who came through the youth system at Stoke City, began his senior career with the Potters, making more than 100 appearances before completing a £100,000 move to Wolverhampton Wanderers - the club he supported as a boy - in August 2006.

He spent seven years at Molineux and was part of their Championship-winning squad of 2008/09, before moving to QPR in the summer of 2013 after being placed on the transfer list at Wolves.

The 34-year-old featured another 118 times during a four-year spell at Loftus Road, but fell out of favour and was forced to train with the reserves following a disagreement with manager Ian Holloway at the turn of the year.

Henry's last competitive outing was on December 1 last year, although he has been training with West Bromwich Albion in recent times in an attempt to maintain his fitness.

Bolton have been searching for a midfield anchor since the departure of Jay Spearing in the summer and, despite ridding themselves of a transfer embargo, would require approval from the EFL before being able to ratify his arrival at Macron Stadium.
