Bolton have completed the signing of Karl Henry, who had been available as a free agent since being released by Queens Park Rangers in June.

Henry, who has 535 career appearances under his belt, came through the youth system at Stoke City before making his senior debut in 2001.

He made more than 100 appearances during his time with the Potters, scoring once, before joining hometown club Wolverhampton Wanderers in a £100,000 deal in 2006.

Henry featured 272 times during his time at Molineux and was part of the side that won the Championship in 2008/09, but fell out of favour under the management of Kenny Jackett and was sold to QPR in 2013.

The 34-year-old added another 118 outings to his record during a four-year spell at Loftus Road, the last of which came in December 2016 before a fall-out with R's boss Ian Holloway saw him frozen out of first-team duties and made to train with the development squad.

Henry, who was subsequently released at the end of his contract in the summer, has signed a one-year deal at Macron Stadium and could go straight into the squad to face Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Tuesday.
