Phil Parkinson was happy to see Bolton claim their first point of the season, after they came from behind to draw 1-1 at Millwall.

Having fallen behind to a 49th-minute strike from George Saville, Wanderers salvaged a point when Filipe Morais, on as a substitute, curled home a delightful free-kick shortly after the hour to ensure the game finished all-square at The Den.

Speaking after the game, Parkinson expressed his delight at the result, whilst also acknowledging his side still has work to do in terms of cutting out the concession of cheap goals.

"I'm really pleased with the effort and application," Parkinson told BBC Radio Manchester.

"As everyone knows, Millwall is a difficult place to come. We came here last year and won and today was their first home game in the Championship.

"We stood strong as a group and to get off the mark is really important.

"Chances were few and far between. It was a tight game, which we knew it would be. It was 100 miles-an-hour at the start, which we expected, then the game slowed down, we got hold of the ball in midfield and we took the sting out of it.

"Second-half did we start poorly? Probably not but we conceded a scrappy goal. All you can ask for when that happens is a response and we responded great.

"I felt when Millwall scored they sat back a little bit and the momentum swung in our favour."
