Ben Amos' faint hopes of returning to first-team action at Bolton have faded further, after it emerged he is in talks over a loan move to Charlton Athletic.
After impressing during a loan spell with Wanderers during the second-half of the 2014/15 campaign, Amos completed a permanent transfer from Manchester United later that summer and made 43 appearances in his debut season as the Trotters finished bottom of the Championship.
One outing, in an EFL Cup defeat at Blackpool, was all he received last season, prior to linking up with Cardiff City in a loan deal that turned sour over the festive period due to a series of high-profile errors.
Amos returned to Bolton at the start of pre-season having fallen behind both Mark Howard and Ben Alnwick in the pecking order and despite retaining his number one shirt for the forthcoming campaign, the 27-year-old appears to be once again heading out through the exit door at Macron Stadium.
Charlton, who finished 13th League One last season, only have Dillon Phillips available as a senior option in goal, with backup coming from development duo Jordan Beeney and Ashley Maynard-Brewer.
