Bolton starlet Alex Samizadeh has departed the club, after completing a transfer to Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock.

Samizadeh, who recently agreed a third-year scholarship deal with Wanderers, hadn't featured during the club's opening three games of pre-season and had been linked with a loan switch to Killie over the past fortnight.

The 18-year-old, who has two first-team substitute appearances to his name with the Trotters, had been tipped for a bright future at Macron Stadium, despite reservations of under-23 coach David Lee and academy manager Jimmy Phillips over his immediate chances of senior action, but those opportunities will no longer arise after he signed professional forms north-of-the-border.

When quizzed about the surprise nature of the deal, first-team boss Phil Parkinson was of the opinion that the Iran forward just wasn't going to make the grade at Championship level.

Speaking to The Bolton News, he said: "Kilmarnock asked us about taking him on and I just felt Alex wasn't going to be good enough for what we need."

Samizadeh was named amongst the substitutes for Killie's Betfred Cup first round tie at Ayr United on Friday and was handed a debut with 15 minutes to play, as they were beaten by a side placed two divisions below in the Scottish football pyramid.
