Dean Moxey has criticised his former club, claiming Bolton's inability to pay players on time is beyond a joke.

Reports on Saturday suggest the Professional Footballers' Association has been called to assist players claim salary and bonus payments amounting to more than £500,000, monies contractually owed following Wanderers' promotion from League One at the end last season.

Players are said to have been told the issue would be resolved by Monday but Moxey says the problem arises on an almost monthly basis, with some members of the squad having received no wage at all for June.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, Moxey said: "Not just bonuses lot of us had nothing pal.

"It's a joke mate been told it's getting 'reviewed' on Monday.

"Not really funny anymore mate as it seems to happen every month."
