Exeter City have completed the signing of Dean Moxey, who was available as a free agent following his release by Bolton.

Moxey, who progressed through the youth ranks with the Grecians, made 196 senior appearances between 2003 and 2009 before completing a £350,000 move to Derby County.

After two years with the Rams and a subsequent transfer to Crystal Palace, Moxey moved to Wanderers on a free transfer in July 2014 and made 82 appearances over a three-year period, scoring twice, but will officially depart Macron Stadium when his contract expires on Friday.

The 31-year-old has signed a three-year deal with his hometown club and admits helping them secure promotion from League Two is high on his priority list.

"I had a few interested clubs, but when Exeter came in it was always something that I was going to want to do and luckily we got it over the line," Moxey told Exeter's official club website.

"I have always thought about coming back here and I am just glad that I am able to do it now rather than at 36 or 37.

"I am here to win. I want to get promoted. I don't want to be in League Two to be honest, so I want to get promoted with Exeter and keep doing what we were doing when I left this place before.

"The Exeter City fans have always been fantastic with me coming through as 16/17-year-old. Hopefully I can repay them with some good performances this season and hopefully get promoted."
