The draw for the first round of the 2017/18 EFL Cup has been made, providing Bolton with a trip to Crewe Alexandra.

The draw, which was made in Thailand, the home country of title sponsor Carabao, was blighted by technical problems throughout, with a live stream regularly freezing, redundant of sound and, most amazingly, Charlton Athletic being pulled out of the hat twice.

Wanderers have met the Railwaymen just once previously in the competition, when Darren Pratley and a brace from Jermaine Beckford gave them a 3-2 extra-time victory at the second-round stage at the Alexandra Stadium.

Ties will be played in the week commencing August 7, 2017, with confirmation to come once television schedules have been announced.
