Bolton have offered third-year scholarships to five players, including Iranian forward Alex Samizadeh.

Samizadeh, along with Cole Lonsdale, Harry Brockbank, Jack Earing and Ryan White, have been offered the opportunity to extend their stay at Macron Stadium, having showcased their abilities at both under-23 and under-18 levels this season.

Two of those players - Samizadeh and Earing - featured for Wanderers at first-team level at the start of the campaign, both featuring in Checkatrade Trophy outings against Blackpool and Everton, respectively, as Phil Parkinson's side were eliminated at the group stage of the competition.

In a statement, posted at bwfc.co.uk, Phillips revealed his desire for such players to succeed, as the club look to increase the number of local talent progressing through their ranks, saying: "A lot of these lads have been with us since the age of nine so that is certainly encouraging.

"Three of them [Brockbank, Earing and Lonsdale] are from the Bolton area with Samizadeh from Manchester and White from Blackpool.

"We've also offered ten first-year scholarships and four of them have been with us since the Under-9s and seven of them are from Bolton and the surrounding areas.

"We're keeping up our tradition of getting young local players, keeping them in the academy and getting them into the scholarship ranks.

"Hopefully more of these players will go on to represent the first team like Josh Vela, who has done remarkably well for us this year, and in the past Zach Clough and Rob Holding."
