Bolton chairman Ken Anderson says planning for a stable future will be paramount when holding talks with the club's out-of-contract players.

Wanderers won promotion to the Championship on Sunday after just one season in League One, but face the prospect of life back in the second tier with only 10 senior professionals set to be registered to the club - four of whom have spent time out on loan at some stage of the current campaign.

Keeping hold of key figures such as David Wheater, Jay Spearing and Adam Le Fondre is understandably high on the agenda, whilst others such as Mark Davies, Lawrie Wilson and Max Clayton face uncertain futures after lengthy spells on the sidelines.

When asked what happens next when it comes to contracts, Anderson revealed he will sit down with manager Phil Parkinson when he returns to work on Wednesday, but he is determined to lead the club in the right direction after seeing them on the verge of collapse prior to his takeover in March 2016.

"We'll sit down with the manager over the next few days, gather our thoughts and plan for next season," Anderson told BBC Radio Manchester.

"A number of these players have been warriors all season and some of those out of contract we'd like to keep.

"The most important thing now is we have to build a new financial plan that's sustainable and we don't go back to where we were."
