Post-Match: Parkinson on Bolton's Win at Fleetwood

Phil Parkinson believes it is a case of 'game on' in the promotion race, after his Bolton side ran out 4-2 winners at Fleetwood Town.

Wanderers travelled to Highbury Stadium without a win on the road since November and were up against a side unbeaten in their last 18 league encounters, whilst also failing to lose on home soil since September.

A brace from Adam Le Fondre, combined with further strikes from David Wheater and Mark Beevers turned the form book upside down though, and Parkinson admitted a number of pre-match selection gambles paid off as his players gained arguably their most important win of the season to-date.

"It's game on," Parkinson told BBC Radio Manchester.

"We knew coming here that these were above us and that gap would increase. We needed a boost to get us going again.

"We've been searching for a way of playing again. We've had to change the system because of injuries but gradually we're getting better and we've got to improve again on Tuesday night against Gillingham.

"Our motivation was different class to go and win that game. We said to the lads that it's a 12-game season and we've started it well.

"We came into the game playing Darren Pratley, which was obviously a risk, and the two lads - Josh Vela and Mark Beevers - on nine bookings.

"It was a day where a lot could have gone wrong but a lot has gone right for us."
