Jay Spearing will miss Bolton's upcoming games at Bradford City and Sheffield United, after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season.

Spearing, who has made 32 appearances this campaign, was booked in the aftermath of Wanderers' winning goal against Rochdale on Tuesday night, after kicking the ball into the stands whilst celebrations were taking place.

The 28-year-old missed the defeat at Walsall in September following an accumulation of five yellow cards, but Spearing's latest absence will come as a huge blow to manager Phil Parkinson, ahead of a potentially season-defining fortnight of League One action.

Spearing will be eligible for Bolton's game at home to Bristol Rovers on February 28, by which point the Trotters will have 14 games remaining.
