Bolton have rejected an offer from Nottingham Forest, reported to be in the region of £2million, for Zach Clough.

Clough, who has scored nine goals in 29 appearances for Wanderers this season, has been a subject of debate throughout the transfer window and Forest look set to test their resolve after making a cash offer in the closing hours.

The 21-year-old held talks with Bristol City 12 months ago after the same fee was deemed acceptable by Trotters chiefs, only to turn down the opportunity to link up with the Robins, but current owners Ken Anderson and Dean Holdsworth rate the academy graduate at a higher value and have spurned Forest's initial approach.

Another graduate of the Bolton academy to be linked with a move away from the club is Josh Vela, who has also been the subject of a failed transfer offer on deadline day.

Vela has enjoyed the best form of his career this campaign, having moved into his more natural attacking midfield role, netting seven times in 34 games - the most outings of any first-team player at Macron Stadium.

Wigan Athletic have been identified as the club interested in his signature, although sources close to the club indicate Vela will not be departing on deadline day.
