Phil Parkinson was full of praise for James Henry, who produced his best performance in a Bolton shirt in Saturday's goalless draw with Crystal Palace.

Henry, who had seen first-team opportunities limited during the first half of the season, returned for a second loan spell with Wanderers last week and produced a Man of the Match display against the Eagles.

Speaking after the tie, Parkinson expressed his delight at Henry's performance and suggested the departure of fellow loanee Sammy Ameobi could provide the 27-year-old with a platform on which to build between now and the end of the campaign.

"When he first came in we were playing a diamond and he was playing out of position," Parkinson told BBC Radio Manchester.

"He hasn't had many opportunities to play in his favoured right-hand side position.

"He deserved that chance and took it. He played well, looked really fit and creative, and he always gets chances.

"He always gets in good positions and on another day could have scored a couple of goals."
