Mark Howard is unlikely to feature for Bolton until Februay, after he was ruled out for between 10 and 12 weeks with a hand injury.

Howard suffered the problem inside the opening 10 minutes of Wanderers' defeat at Peterborough United on Sunday, after his attempts to launch a counter-attack were thwarted by Posh forward Shaquile Coulthirst.

The Trotters goalkeeper was immediately replaced at the ABAX Stadium and scans on Monday confirmed the extent of the blow, with Howard sidelined for up to three months with a broken thumb and subsequent ligament damage to the joint.

With Ben Amos at Cardiff City on a season-long loan, Ben Alnwick is set to deputise in Howard's absence. Further cover is limited, however, with academy prospects Jake Turner and William Jaaskelainen contesting for a place amongst the substitutes.
