Bolton have scooped two awards, with Phil Parkinson and Zach Clough being named October's Manager and Player of the Month, respectively.

Following defeat to Oxford United at the start of the month, Wanderers embarked on an outstanding run of six successive victories throughout the rest of October - conceding just one goal in the process.

That form ensured Parkinson saw off competition from compatriots Graham Alexander, Neal Ardley and Mark Venus to claim the award - his second of the campaign, following on from his success in August.

Clough, meanwhile, has taken the League One Player of the Month award, after his return of five goals helped move Bolton back into the automatic promotion places.

Commenting on his award, Parkinson thanked supporters for their backing after the club came through a difficult period of results in a winless September.

"I'm very pleased to win the award," Parkinson told "We had a good month in October after a difficult period the month previous, but we came through it and now the aim is for us to continue this run.

"After the start we had to the season, we perhaps took our foot off the gas slightly, but we learned from that alongside getting a number of players back from injury.

"We have also learned though that winning is hard and that to succeed, we need to play with desire and commitment and push ourselves to the limit.

"The Millwall game we had, away at The Den, typified that mentality along with our victory over our local rivals Bury. You saw then that the players were pushing themselves to their limits for Bolton Wanderers.

"Our supporters are identifying with that too and I can feel the momentum of the fans' backing behind the players. It is still very early days in the season though and there's a lot of work ahead of us."

In addition to his manager's comments, Clough has dedicated his award to the performances of his teammates and linked his success to enjoying an injury-free month on the playing field.

Clough said: "I'm delighted with the award, but it's ultimately down to the hard work of the team, from the defence right up to us as strikers.

"It's been a good month for me - I'm filling up the mantelpiece nicely after winning the same award with the club too, but October was great for everybody across the club.

"It's been down to a lot of hard work on the training pitch and I've been able to keep myself injury free which will hopefully continue."
