Kevin Friend will referee Tuesday's Checkatrade Trophy group fixture between Cheltenham Town and Bolton at the LCI Rail Stadium.

Wanderers go into the game, the first-ever between the clubs, on the back of a 1-0 victory over Grimsby Town on Saturday, while the Robins were held to a 1-1 draw by Crewe Alexandra that same afternoon.

Friend, who will take charge of the game, has officiated nine matches so far this season - issuing 40 yellow cards and no red.

His most recent outing was on November 5, when he was the man in the middle for Manchester City's 1-1 draw at home to Middlesbrough in the Premier League. The Leicestershire official produced four yellow cards in that game, three of which went to the visiting side.

Friend's last match in charge of Bolton was on October 4, when they were 1-0 winners over Blackpool in their opening group fixture of the Checkatrade Trophy. One caution was issued that evening, with Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela the recipient.

The last time he refereed a Cheltenham fixture was in January 2013, as they were beaten 5-1 by Everton in an FA Cup third-round tie at Whaddon Road. Friend kept his cards in his pocket on that occasion.

Below is the full set of officials for Tuesday's game between Cheltenham Town and Bolton:

Referee: Kevin Friend
Assistant Referees: Sian Massey-Ellis and Andrew Fox
