Sammy Ameobi is reaping the rewards of his efforts in training, according to Bolton assistant manager Steve Parkin.
Ameobi was in scintillating form as Wanderers cruised to victory over Port Vale on Saturday and provided the assist for the club's second goal, which was controversially turned home by Josh Vela.
On loan from Newcastle United, less than half of Ameobi's 110 career league appearances have been from the start of matches but Parkin believes the 24-year-old is improving week by week, boosted by the fact that he is working hard behind the scenes to increase his fitness levels.
"The lad is a talent, there's no doubt about that," Parkin told BBC Radio Manchester.
"He just needs a run in the team and to be given a chance. I think we've done that for him.
"We've reiterated to him in training how important it is to work on his fitness so he can play full games, or certainly 70 or 80 minutes. He's worked really hard at that.
"His levels and figures in training are very good and he's a talented lad. He must be very difficult to mark."
