Steve Parkin has hailed the team ethic at Bolton, after they beat Port Vale to pick up a sixth successive victory in all competitions.

"We feel we had a couple of performances earlier in the season - such as Southend (at home) and Walsall away - where we had lots of chances and it was only a matter of time before we did score a few goals," Parkin told BBC Radio Manchester.

"It's difficult when you get three so quickly and what to do then, as you can't try and carry on the same way.

"It didn't quite click in the second half but we're delighted with some of the football, the attacking play down the flanks and the full-backs joining in.

"Gary Madine put himself about and it's a shame he didn't get his goal, but that's coming. He's just working really hard for the team, which is important as well.

"With the start we had, I think we were always going to have a little dip.

"The lads have bonded well together. There's a really good spirit among them.

"The training levels have gone through the roof in terms of distance covered, workrate, attitude and a clean sheet mentality.

"They're all blocking crosses and wide players are getting back into position. There's a real good team ethic and that's the way to be successful. It's all about the team and not as individuals."
