Max Clayton has been given the green light to resume training with Bolton, after a knee specialist deemed him fit.
Clayton hasn't featured for Wanderers since tearing his hamstring in a 1-1 draw at home to Brentford in November 2015 - the latest in a long series of injuries that have restricted him to just 17 appearances since his arrival from Crewe Alexandra in September 2014.
The 22-year-old completed pre-season with Phil Parkinson's squad and was an unused substitute for the victory at AFC Wimbledon on August 13, but underwent exploratory surgery on his knee a fortnight later after discomfort and swelling appeared in the joint.
After just over a month of rehabilitation, Clayton has been given the all-clear by the specialist and he is expected to up his training regime over the coming weeks.
