Transfer deadline day has promised much, yet delivered little at Bolton. But that could all change, with news of potential departures at Macron Stadium.

The breaking gossip early on Wednesday suggested Wanderers were in the market for Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem and Manchester City goalkeeper Ian Lawlor.

Developments on the future of Zelalem haven't been forthcoming throughout the day, although a deal to bring Lawlor is dead in the water after it was confirmed he is due to be sidelined until October through injury.

Peterborough United goalkeeper Ben Alnwick is said to have undergone a medical mid-afternoon, ahead of a free transfer from the Trotters' League One rivals, while Charlton Athletic are fighting hard to snatch Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder James Henry from under the nose of former manager Phil Parkinson.

Crystal Palace forward Keshi Anderson remains a priority for Parkinson, while another name joined the list shortly after lunch when reports coming out of Liverpool suggested Bolton had enquired about the availability of Everton prospect Liam Walsh, who impressed in the Toffees' Checkatrade Trophy victory at Macron Stadium on Tuesday.

As for outgoings, Tom Walker's future appears to be up in the air, after it emerged he had rejected a move to Leyton Orient and has since opened discussions over a loan move to Bury.

A bizarre swap deal has also been courted, with Rotherham United said to be interested in a deal for Gary Madine which would see utility player Tom Thorpe move in the opposite direction.

Sources at BBC Sheffield have since denied that speculation.
