Bolton forward Conor Wilkinson will spend the first half of the season at Chesterfield, having joined the Spireites on loan.

Wilkinson joined Wanderers from Millwall in July 2013 but has struggled to establish himself in the senior side at Macron Stadium, having made a combined total of just 11 appearances under the separate management tentures of Dougie Freedman, Neil Lennon and Phil Parkinson.

The 21-year-old has had previous spells out on loan - with Chester, Torquay United, Oldham Athletic, Barnsley, Newport County and Portsmouth - but has struggled to reach heights he was tipped for during his academy days at The Den.

The Republic of Ireland under-21 international goes straight into contention for Chesterfield's trip to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, and he will remain at the Proact Stadium until January 9, 2017.
