Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Liam Feeney, who joins the club for a second time following his release by Bolton.

Feeney, who had a spell on loan at Ewood Park in 2014, links up with Rovers at the end of a two-year stay with Wanderers, for whom he made a combined total of 92 appearances during loan and permanent spells at Macron Stadium.

The 29-year-old spent the final two months of last season on loan at Ipswich Town, who had opened talks over a full-time move to Portman Road, but Feeney has opted to remain in the North West and will play Championship football next season.

Speaking about his move to Blackburn, Feeney admitted the desire of manager Owen Coyle, himself a former employee at Bolton, was the decisive figure in his decision.

"I feel good about it," Feeney told rovers.co.uk

"I was here before on loan for a short spell, so it is good to finally be back permanently and I think it is going to be an exciting season for the club.

"Obviously I'd been here before and I knew about the stature of the club, the stadium, the training facilities and the fans' support.

"Speaking to the manager and how positive he was, I thought nothing but good things about it, so it is an exciting time and something that I can be a part of.

"The way he spoke to me filled me with a lot of confidence and he outlined what he wants to do, so it should be really good. I'm just glad I can be a part of that and hopefully we can have a successful season."
