Bolton will travel to Blackpool in the opening week of the new season, after the sides were drawn together in the first round of the EFL Cup.
Wanderers will travel to Bloomfield Road in the week commencing August 8, 2016, looking to improve on their exit at the first hurdle last season - when they were beaten 1-0 by Burton Albion at Macron Stadium.
The two clubs have never previously met in the competition, although have faced off on no fewer than eight occasions in the FA Cup, with Bolton winning on five of those instances.
Their most recent meeting was in April 2015, when they played out a 1-1 draw in a Championship fixture at Macron Stadium. Michael Jacobs opened the scoring early on for the Tangerines, who were denied victory at the death when Eidur Gudjohnsen slotted home deep into stoppage time.
