Jimmy Phillips has warned to expect a huge turnover of first-team staff over the summer, after Bolton's season ended with a 1-0 defeat at Fulham.

Tom Cairney scored the only goal at Craven Cottage, as Wanderers slipped to a new club record 26th league loss of the season on an afternoon where they looked every bit the Championship's bottom team.

Speaking after the game, Phillips opted to discuss the impact relegation will have on the club over post-season, confirming a large number of playing and non-playing staff have been told their time at Macron Stadium have come to an end.

"I was asked to do nine games," Phillips told BBC Radio Manchester.

"Going into those nine games I was certainly hoping for a far better return points wise, so that's been a big disappointment to myself, Peter Reid and Nicky Spooner.

"I think in the coming week there's going to be huge changes at the club. The wheels have already been put in motion with the backroom team, so the club will go through a series of changes.

"Nothing has been confirmed yet, as these things do tend to take time, but there are certain first-team staff that have been told their futures lie elsewhere and that seems to be the nature of modern day football."
