Rob Hall is set to return to Bolton, after being ruled out for between six and nine months with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
Hall, who has spent the season on loan at Championship rivals MK Dons, suffered the injury in training last week and MRI scans have revealed the extent of the problem.
The 22-year-old has made 32 appearances for the Dons this campaign, scoring twice, but will now undergo surgery before returning to Wanderers to begin a lengthy rehabilitation programme.
Hall is due to fall out of contract at Macron Stadium in the summer, but, under Football League rules, is likely to remain with the club until fit and ready to return to action.
