Neil Lennon has spoken publicly for the first time since his departure from Bolton, claiming circumstances at Macron Stadium will prepare him for future challenges.

Lennon left Wanderers by mutual consent on Tuesday, bringing an end to a 17-month reign with the Championship's bottom club, and he was back at work just hours later, representing TV3 SPORT Ireland in their UEFA Champions League coverage.

When asked whether he rushed into the job at Bolton, Lennon responded by saying the opportunity to manage the Trotters was too good to turn down and he ultimately leaves disappointed, but prepared for the road ahead.

"I wouldn't say I rushed into it," Lennon said. "I had six months out after Celtic and I thought it was a good opportunity.

"It's an experience and I've learned a lot from it. I've learned a lot about myself as well, so, going forward, whatever challenges come my way in the future, this will stand me in good stead."
