Dean Holdsworth says fears of administration are over, after he completed his takeover of Bolton Wanderers from Eddie Davies.

Holdsworth, fronting the Sports Shield consortium, completed a purchase from majority shareholder Eddie Davies on Thursday, in partnership with Inner Circle, headed by former football agent Ken Anderson.

Anderson will be appointed to the board as chairman, filling the void left by the late Phil Gartside, while Holdsworth will oversee operation of the club as chief executive.

When asked about the threat of administration or, more worryingly, liquidation still hovering over the club, Holdsworth revealed the club are now in the process of clearing an outstanding tax bill which will allow it to start afresh.

"The administration threat has gone away," Holdsworth told BBC Radio Manchester. "There are a number of things which have to be done, but it's all in the process of being complete.

"It's been an incredible journey, a big battle and we were literally minutes away from not achieving what we wanted.

"To finally get the paperwork done and the aquisition complete is fantastic for us and we're delighted for everybody.

"This is an incredible football club and there have been many years of different legalities that have taken place. We're not buying a house here, we're buying, in my opinion, a fantastic football club which could be an international arena at some stage.

"It's never going to be an easy process but I wouldn't have anticipated six months of what we've been through.

"The last minute stuff is always going to be the finer points, so now it's time to look forward rather than behind me because it's been a huge achievement not just for me but for the football club.

"I'm proud and honoured to be a part of this football club and to create new history. It is steeped in history and to lose it would have been unimaginable, and I'm really delighted.

"I'm going to be a hands on CEO. As chairman, Ken Anderson, my business partner, is very knowledgeable and experienced.

"My life has always been about being hands on and football and I will have an oversight of recruitment and certain things that will go on around the club."
