Neil Lennon has revealed Bolton are close to concluding a takeover deal, but admits the ongoing situation has cast doubt over his future at the club.

Wanderers are due in court on Monday, where HM Revenue & Customs will continue in their quest to liquidate the club over unpaid VAT and PAYE tax bills amounting to more than £3million.

Reports earlier in the week suggested billionaire Roger Tamraz was on the verge of taking over ownership from current owner Eddie Davies, and Lennon believes a deal will reach fruition before the High Court hearing.

"Talks are ongoing and hopefully we'll get a takeover before Monday," Lennon told BBC Radio Manchester.

"I don't know who the preferred bidder would be, but the club seem confident that it will get done before the tax hearing.

"It's been a saga, but hopefully we're getting to the end now. I don't know who it will be or what ideas they'll have, but the future of the club is the most important thing.

"It'll be interesting and it'll be what they want to do with the club. They may have their own ideas on the game and their own personnel to take the club forward.

"I don't know, so there's no point surmising that at the minute and I just hope the right people come in and keep the club on a stable footing now."
