With Shola Ameobi's contract set to expire, Bolton boss Neil Lennon has revealed he would like to keep the forward at Macron Stadium.
Ameobi was on the scoresheet as Wanderers secured a 3-1 victory over MK Dons on Saturday, but is due to leave the club after his three-month deal with the club came to an end.
When asked what the future had in store for the former Newcastle United forward, Lennon expressed his interest in retaining the services of Ameobi but was realistic enough to know any decision would likely come from Trevor Birch and the the Trotters board.
"We'll have to see what the situation is and have a chat with the powers that be," Lennon told the club's official website.
"He's someone we'd like to keep around, but of course that all depends on finances.
"He's been great to have around the place and it was nice for him to cap what could have been his last performance for the team with a goal today."
