Medo Kamara's miserable spell at Bolton has come to an end, after he came to terms on his release from Macron Stadium.

Kamara joined Wanderers in a £300,000 move from Partizan Belgrade in January 2013 and went on to make 12 appearances during his debut campaign at the club, who were then under the management of Dougie Freedman.

The Sierra Leone international became an established member of the side the following season and would go on to make a total of 57 appearances, the last of which came in a League Cup tie at Chelsea in September 2014.

The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Maccabi Haifa, but talks over a permanent move broke down and he returned to the Trotters ahead of pre-season training in the summer.

But a first-team opportunity failed to materialise under the stewardship of Neil Lennon, who, in 66 games since arriving at the club, failed to include Kamara in a single matchday squad.

Posting on his official Twitter profile, Kamara said: "Wanted to say thx to the fans, the staff, my team mates and everyone else at the club for making my time at @OfficialBWFC so special.

"I am going to miss this place...I wish the club the best of luck in the future and hope that they can return to the Premier League soon!"
